Project DescriptionThe 2.8km Jiuhuashan Tunnel in Nanjing, consisting of mountain section and lake section, is an underwater tunnel built under complex engineering geological conditions and surrounding environment, such as road crossing, mountain fracture zone, ancient city wall of Ming Dynasty, civil air defense works, Xuanwu Lake bottom and existing tunnel under the lake. The project is recognized as one of the most difficult urban construction projects in Nanjing with the most complicated geological conditions.
The mountain section of the tunnel adopts triad arch structure, two-way six lanes, cross-section width 45m, Xuanwu Lake east-west tunnel, Jiuhuashan tunnel and Xuanwu Lake south-north tunnel, three tunnel groups with a length of 9km are connected, which is not only unique in China, but also rare in foreign cities.
Since the tunnel is located under Xuanwu Lake after completion, its waterproofing and structural durability are both engineering difficulties, which have been solved perfectly with Joaboa Tech's waterproofing design.
